- What are the advantages to chartering a yacht?
- Chartering a yacht can be a great alternative to a standard vacation. Charters can provide a sense of freedom where you can control your day-to-day activities rather than having to worry about packing up a suite case and having to find a hotel to stay. You have the option to take the tender to shore and explore the local towns or stay on the boat with complete privacy.
- When is the best time to book a charter?
- We advise that you should book your charter as early as possible for the best availability time. It is best to book your charter at least 6-12 months in advance during high peak seasons. For off-peak seasons it is recommended for at least 3-6 months in advance.
- What is included in the charter cost?
- The initial charter cost is the price of the yacht. Prices will differ from yacht to yacht and will have low-season rates during off-peak times of the year. Additional expenses such as fuel, dockage, food, and more are not included in the initial charter price.
- Do I need insurance for my charter?
- Insurance is not required, but highly recommended. A trip protection plan is important in case of any losses over which you may have no control.
- What happens if there is bad weather?
- It will be subject to the captain’s discretion on whether the boat can move when there is bad weather occurring. If the weather is not permitting, that always gives an opportunity to explore the local towns and shops near the port.
- What if we want to do something outside of the itinerary?
- It is not uncommon to change the plans on the itinerary, especially if weather is not permitting. Always speak with your captain if there are changes you would like to make, and the crew will always do their best to accommodate.
- Is it possible to extend my charter if we are having too much fun?
- If you would like to extend the length of your charter, please contact your charter broker as soon as possible so they can check the availability of the yacht.
- Can we bring our pet?
- This will be up to the yacht you choose. If this is crucial to your charter, please inform your charter broker and they will help find the yacht that best suits your needs.
- Are children allowed?
- Charter guests of any age are allowed on yachts. The yachts will have plenty of suitable activities for children. The crew typically do not provide nanny services so please plan accordingly.
- Do we have to tip the crew?
- It is always customary to tip at least 10%-15% of the charter price. If you believe that the crew has done an outstanding job, you may offer them higher level of gratuity. It is always appreciated.
- What if there is a medical emergency on board?
- The crew onboard are all first aid and CPR trained. Most yachts carry a vast array of equipment that may be needed as well as have connections in the local port for doctors ashore.
